AWARD2009 Baldrige Award Recipient, Heartland Health
HealthLeader Media and Dr. Mark Laney, CEO of Heartland Health, recently sat down to discuss Heartland's achievement of the 2009 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in the health care sector.  What impressed the judges the most, was Heartland's continuous process improvement techniques which helped them reduce waste, costs, and errors.  When asked about Heartland's journey toward winning the award, Laney replied, "it was one of the best things that happened to me because I had to do a deep dive into the guts of the organization...The Baldrige journey has to do with providing world-class quality and commitment to excellence.  That value proposition and attention to detail runs through the whole culture."  Winning the award allows Heartland Health to move one-step closer to their achieving mission: providing patients and community with the "right care, at the right time, in the right place, at the right cost."
